UNION chiefs are threatening the biggest industrial dispute since the 1926 General Strike over Government plans to cut council workers' pensions.

Within the next few weeks, eight unions are to ballot 1.5million workers including school dinner ladies, teaching assistants, social workers, librarians and refuse collectors for industrial action over the proposed changes.
