We would leap from bed to bed in the dormitories, arms outstretched to represent the wings of Spitfires or Hurricanes, shouting 'neeooowwww ducker-ducker-ducker' (the 'duckers' were machine-gun fire), as we swooped on the poor boy who'd drawn the short straw as the Messerschmitt pilot.
