A BENEFITS loophole which led to an Afghan family living in a [pounds]1.2million taxpayer-funded mansion is to be closed, the Government announced yesterday.

Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell told MPs it was 'clearly unacceptable' that councils were paying to house people in properties 'they would not be able to afford if they were in work'.
