STEPHEN Byers has aimed a grenade at the Treasury and Gordon Brown in proposing the abolition of inheritance tax. The former Cabinet minister presumably believes he has the support of his patron, Tony Blair, for mounting his rather audacious ambush.
Unfortunately, there is not much reason to believe that the Chancellor will be brought to his senses.
