MORE than two months ago, this newspaper first exposed the shameless rip-off being perpetrated on consumers by the Irish outlets of British high-street stores. It took Tanaiste Mary Coughlan until this week to make a formal complaint to retail representatives.
Their response? Crude attempts to disguise the rip-off by blacking out, tearing off or otherwise disguising the sterling prices of the goods for which they are cynically overcharging in euro.
