ASYLUM seekers are being sent by taxi on journeys of hundreds of miles at taxpayers' expense to find somewhere for them to stay.

On one occasion, a family was sent from Liverpool to Dover at a cost of Pounds 400, while another was sent from Liverpool to Birmingham at a cost of Pounds 220.
