TONY Pidgeley, the granddaddy of the housebuilding sector, is loosening his grip on Berkeley Group after 33 years.

Pidgeley, 62, will step aside as chief executive and become chairman, handing the reins over to finance chief Rob Perrins. Nick Simpkin will take his place as finance director.
