AHEAD of the World Cup play-off showdown with France in Dublin on Saturday, former Irish manager Eoin Hand is glad Giovanni Trapattoni is in charge of Ireland and not Raymond Domenech, insisting: 'I'm sure we have the better coach.' 'I think there's much more respect for him as a coach and manager than seemingly there is with Domenech from his players,' said Hand last night. 'If you had Domenech in charge here, I don't think we'd be near the situation of the play- off,' he added.

'I think Trapattoni would have changed the whole set-up; there'd be fellas gone out of that French squad, there'd be Andy Reids gone,' said Hand at last night's launch of his CD of ballads and stories, After The Ball.
