GORDON BROWN is bombarding thousands of voters with personal letters apologising for the expenses scandal in an effort to drum up Labour support at the European elections next week.

The Prime Minister was accused last night of cynically politicising the scandal as David Cameron said police should investigate and prosecute MPs who have used taxpayers' money to pay for 'phantom mortgages' on their expenses.
