Summary
PAUL LAWRIE turned to swing guru Bob Torrance to sort out his game ahead of yesterday's final round -- and promptly reaped the benefits of tapping into the finest golfing brain on any practice ground in the world. The 1999 champion carded the first albatross of his career -- and only the eighth in Open history -- when he holed out from 213 yards with a four iron on the par-five seventh hole. Lawrie (pictured) also birdied the last to record his best round of the week, a 68, although the damage done on the first three days meant he still finished well down the pack on eight over par. The Aberdonian revealed that he had turned to veteran coach Torrance, who had guided Padraig Harrington to successive Open titles, after shooting a demoralising 76 on Saturday. And he insisted: 'I played an awful lot better. I saw Bob on the range on Saturday night and had an hour-and-a-half with him. 'I saw him again before the round and liked what he had to say. It was simple, but he gave me a couple of things to work on and I hit the ball night and day better.
'I've never worked with Bob in the past but I have always wanted him to have a look just to see what he would say. You respect him so much but I've never really had the chance. 'I'll go to see him again at Largs on Tuesday. He told me to move off it more in the backswing and get back to the rhythm that I used to have.See the full content of this document
