THE Big Four bookmakers saved themselves Pounds 10million by paying places on only the first four home in the Grand National, according to C4 betting guru John McCririck.

He claimed Ladbrokes, Hills, Coral and Stanleybet were 'laughing all the way to the bank' after refusing to pay out on fifth-placed Forest Gunner and Carrie Ford Totesport and other independents did give a first five concession. It cost Totesport Pounds 500,000 in the race.
