RIVAL managers Jeff Kenna and Stephen Kenny are united in their dismay at having to play Premier Division games this weekend in between Europa League ties. St Pat's, who play Krylya Sovetov at home on Thursday night, face Dundalk on Sunday while Derry City, who return from playing CSKA Sofia early on Friday morning, must travel to Dublin to face Shamrock Rovers on Sunday after League chiefs refused to postpone their games. 'There is a scheduled fixture list this weekend which stands,' said League director Fran Gavin yesterday. Asked did he think that clubs would be better prepared for European combat by having the weekend off, Gavin replied: 'No comment.' Kenna's dissatisfaction at having to cram in a League game before departure to Samara to play Krylya Sovetov was clear yesterday. 'I would be happy not to play. At the moment we are looking at playing Thursday, Sunday, then going halfway around the world for the away leg on Thursday. Then we've got Bray on the Sunday, Bohs on the Tuesday and then the FAI Cup on the Friday. 'It's by no means ideal,' he said.

Asked what message was being sent to the clubs by the stance of League hierarchy over fixtures, he added: 'For me personally it's not a good one. It's almost like you can become a victim of your own success. 'We are all here to try and promote the League, to make the League better, to improve the coefficient.
