DENIS O'Brien's Communicorp will be allowed to purchase two out of the three radio stations it sought, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) ruled last night.

The telecoms tycoon had hoped to snap up Today FM, FM104 and Highland Radio for EUR200million from British group Emap, bolstering a broadcasting empire which stretches across Europe.
