BRITISH GAS is on course for booming profits despite widespread dissatisfaction with its service and falling customer numbers.

Its parent company Centrica said yesterday that the power giant was expected to report a substantial profit for the first six months of 2007, compared with a loss of Pounds 143million for the same period last year.
