TEMPERS rose in the Tory leadership battle yesterday when frontrunner David Cameron attacked his rival David Davis for promising tax cuts worth 8p in the pound.

Mr Cameron's supporters accused Mr Davis of giving Labour a hostage to fortune by announcing his tax policy four years before the next General Election.
