URGENT action was demanded last night after the vast majority of Scotland's care homes for the elderly failed basic fire checks.

The figures emerged after the Scottish Executive ordered a review of fire safety measures in the wake of the Rosepark care home tragedy, in which 14 pensioners died earlier this year.
