INDUSTRY is gearing up for a push to reform the EU's sluggish markets and to boost the skills of Britain's workforce as hundreds of thousands of jobs are sucked away to Asia or Eastern Europe.

The CBI annual conference, which starts today, will call for the EU to speed up reforms and for Britain to 're-skill' up to 3.5m workers whose jobs are at risk from the relentless drift offshore.
