POLICE could bring a long list of charges against John and Anne Darwin if there is enough evidence - and all threaten long stretches in prison.

They could be charged under the Fraud Act 2006 with defrauding banks, insurance companies and other agencies. Maximum penalty: Ten years and/or unlimited fine. Conspiracy to defraud attracts a maximum penalty of 14 years and/or unlimited fine Then there is forgery. John Darwin reportedly travelled freely in and out of Britain using a false passport in the name of John Jones.
