THE Department of Health is increasingly concerned that the legal battle over the future of struggling NHS software supplier iSoft could spiral out of control.

Even Richard Granger, boss of the accident-prone Connecting for Health IT upgrade, may get involved. He has publicly insisted the matter is one for CSC, iSoft's biggest customer that is still blocking its Pounds 140m takeover. iSoft (up 34p at 48p) has issued a High Court writ against CSC, while would-be buyer IBA Health of Australia is also considering its own action. Granger would be keen to deflate the unseemly row that is brewing in case it further delays the controversial Pounds 12bn project.
