FORMER Cabinet minister Harriet Harman's constituency office intervened only weeks ago on behalf of a family of failed asylum seekers whose teenage sons have been charged with the murder of a woman at a christening.

Miss Harman has been in contact with the family from Sierra Leone over several years in her role as MP for Peckham, South-East London, where the shooting took place on Saturday.
