BRITAIN'S anti- terrorist strategy was in further turmoil last night as Charles Clarke suddenly freed a terror suspect after three years in detention with no explanation.

The Egyptian, known only as 'C', was locked up in December 2001 and only six months ago the court dealing with such cases ruled that he was still a serious threat.
