Summary
THE last time I stayed in a B&B was in Sligo a couple of years ago. Now Im not talking one of those Hidden Ireland piles dotted around the country. No, this was a bog-standard semi-d, walking distance from the town centre and it was booked at the last minute, the only accommodation we could secure, when a family commitment meant we had to be in that particular town of Yeatsian fame at extremely short notice. Yes, it did have the Failte Ireland shamrock seal of approval but no, it was not a particularly relaxing or pleasant experience. It was, in a word, intrusive.
When I go away for a few nights I like privacy, I like to come and go as and when I please. I might like to crawl under the duvet for an hour or so in the afternoon or have breakfast in my room or a nightcap at two in the morning if thats what takes my fancy. I dont want to have to talk to people that I dont know and am never likely to see again and I certainly dont want to share a breakfast table with them.See the full content of this document
