THERE is no desire for product placement on ITV to be 'underhand' nor to 'dupe' viewers. That would work against the interest of broadcasters as well as viewers.

Under European regulations, the UK could permit product placement in only a handful of programme types. It would still be banned in news, current affairs, consumer and children's programmes.
