FORMER British Steel group Corus is cutting production by 30pc this winter, leading to 400 job cuts in its distribution business which employs 2,400 in the UK and Ireland.

A slump in demand means Corus, now owned by India's Tata Steel, will shut down two blast furnaces at its plants in Port Talbot, South Wales, and Scunthorpe for six months.
