Summary
FILM: THE GIRL IN THE RED VELVET SWING, 1.30pm, Ch4 A 22-YEAR- OLD Joan Collins (pictured) puts her man-baiting looks to good use in this, her first Hollywood lead (a role originally meant for Marilyn Monroe). It's a trashy tale about showgirl Evelyn Nesbit who got her husband (played by Farley Granger) into such a jealous rage that he gunned down Stanford White (Ray Milland), an architect he thought was sleeping with his wife. A real-life, tabloid-hogging case from 1906, but though the look of turn-of-the-last-century Manhattan rings true, little else does.
THE SIMPSONS, 6pm, Ch4 LISA, usually such a bright girl, struggles with a simple brain-teaser and fears the worst. Could it be possible that she's losing her cleverness? Sharing her anxiety with her grandfather, Abe, does little to dispel her fear, as he tells her that a 'dumbening' gene runs in the family, making the members less smart as they get older. Crushed but resigned to her fate, Lisa prepares to follow in her dear old dad's (stupid) footsteps.See the full content of this document
