MINISTERS were last night urged to guarantee that a former Government adviser will not make millions at the taxpayer's expense from the sell off of the company which runs the Channel Tunnel rail link.

The Conservatives expressed concern over a potential bid for London and Continental Railways by a team headed by Sir Adrian Montague formerly one of Gordon Brown's favourite economic advisers.
