Summary
BOHEMIANS..1...SHAMROCK ROVERS..0 GLEN CROWES first goal in two months saw Bohemians forget their recent league worries as they pushed past Shamrock Rovers in the League Cup final following a 1-0 win at Dalymount Park last night.
For long periods it seemed like it was going to be another disappointing night for the Gypsies, particularly when Mark Rossiter was sent off for the second time in as many games after just 16 minutes. The game followed a similar trend to the last Dublin derby between the sides when the home team were outplayed by Pat Scullys men but yet came away with the right result. Crowe was the match winner on that occasion and it was the former Ireland striker that was the Bohs hero again last night to send his side into a the final for the first time since 2004, when they lost to Longford Town. They will now face Derry or UCD, who play at the end of the month. Rossiters sending off came after two bookable offences. His first tackle on Barry Ferguson a winning captain three years ago was reckless and he could have easily gone straight away. His second seemed a little more harsh after being pulled up for a swipe across Derek Pender in trying to cross the ball. Despite their numerical advantage, Rovers were unable to break the deadlock in the first half, although David Cassidy a hero here when Rovers knocked the Gypsies out of last years FAI Cup did come close when he found himself one-on-one with Brian Murphy.See the full content of this document
