JUST as racecourses are pleading with the BHA not to reduce the number of fixtures in 2009 from a record 1,504 this year it is becoming more and more apparent that there aren't the runners to sustain another increase.
At Lingfield and Southwell yesterday there were only 41 and 49 runners respectively for a total of 14 races, while at Southwell only seven bookies were taking bets from a tiny crowd in Tattersalls.See the full content of this document
