QUESTION What is the story behind the photograph of 11 men sitting on a girder high above the New York skyline, eating their lunch?

THIS picture of construction workers eating their lunch on a girder with the New York skyline in the background was, until recently, credited to an 'unknown' photographer or, incorrectly, to Lewis Wickes Hine (1874-1940), known for his photographs of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island.

The photograph was, in fact, taken by Charles C. Ebbets (1905- 1978) during the construction of the Rockefeller Centre, New York, in 1932, but the truth became known only recently.
