CAUGHT up initially in the turbulence created by shock news that bankers have pulled the plug on UK budget airline EUJet, based at Kent International Airport at Manston, easyJet later ran into more trouble. Shares of the lowcost airline nosedived to 255p before closing 9p lower at 2593/4p on nervous selling fuelled by director Colin Day's surprise resignation to pursue 'other non-executive opportunities'.

Day's resignation comes hard on the heels of fellow non- executive director Ton Illsley's. Day was seen in some quarters as a possible replacement for chief executive Raymond Webster who is leaving after 10 years' service.
