SINGLES play again let Irelands Fed Cup team down as Garry Cahills side crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Greece in Estonia. Yesterday at the Coral Club in Tallinn, Yvonne Doyle and Kelly Liggan maintained their recent 100 per cent doubles record. After their 6- 3, 7-6 (7/4) win over Lithuanian opponents on Wednesday, Doyle and Liggan overwhelmed Anna Gerasimou and Anna Koumantou 6-2, 6-1 in just 45 minutes.
But in the opening singles, Doyle was on the receiving end of a 6- 0, 6-2 rout by 18-year-old Fed Cup debutant Irini Georgatou. Liggan made the pairs event largely academic by succumbing 2-6, 5-7 to Gerasimou in one hour and 25 minutes.
