AN ITALIAN driver accused of killing two Irish women while drink- driving at speed suggested his victims were drunk and walked in front of his car.

Rome police say Friedrich Vernarelli, drove at 'breakneck speed' and had four times the legal alcohol limit in his blood when he hit the women following St Patrick's Day celebrations in the city.
