THROUGHOUT their marriage, Rikki and Kate Fulton had the habit of leaving each other little love notes around the house. Kate treasured one from her husband above all others. Written in his distinctive handwriting and signed with his initial R, it said simply: 'I can't live without you.'

Underneath his words, she wrote in turn 'I can't live without you. K,' and left it out for Rikki to find the next day. As we now know, what she wrote was true.

Rikki's death in January last year, following a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's, parted the two lovers after 38 years of happiness. Lost without him, Kate often said her only desire was to be with Rikki again and last week she was granted her wish.

She passed away at the home she had shared with her husband on the day before what would have been the great comedian's 81st birthday.
