SOME fathers with daughters just off the 'seriously ill' list after a motor accident might cancel a live broadcast on Radio 4's Midweek, but historian Robin Lane Fox - father of lastminute.com millionairess Martha - is made of sterner stuff. The classicist was on yesterday boasting about his role as an adviser on the Oliver Stone movie about Alexander the Great, which included him acting in cavalry scenes. Mr Lane Fox, 57, says he had to go through with the broadcast 'because I'm an egomaniac'.

AFTER betraying David Beckham, Rebecca Loos, pictured, said she intended to buy a flat in London from her ill-gotten, near-1million gains, but her Madrid-based parents have suffered an unpleasant backlash and she's decided to return there to live with them. 'Someone has left a skinned rabbit outside their door,' she says. There may be a lorry-load of them when Real Madrid fans hear she's home.
