Summary
CHANNEL 4's Jon Snow shocked Tony Blair yesterday by suggesting to him during the Prime Minister's press conference that his 'corrupt if not illegal decision' to give peerages to Labour donors was the reason voters now felt a 'disconnect' with politics. Snow added: 'And what would you say to the Iraqis if they were setting up a democratic system which enabled the leader to nominate somebody on the basis of Pounds 1.5million loan?' No such tough questioning at the BBC. Blustering Home Secretary Charles Clarke informed James Naughtie of Radio 4: 'The suggestion that there is cash for peerages is completely false.' And Naughtie failed to ask him: 'So, can you suggest why peerages were offered to Labour donors Dr Chai Patel, Sir David Garrard and Barry Townsley?'
FAMOUS for crossing her legs sans culottes in the 1992 sex thriller Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone, now 48, pictured, is energetically drumming up business for the sequel, imaginatively titled Basic Instinct 2, doing interviews in London, Rome, Madrid and Berlin. Her theme is how she suffered for her art. Playing murderous, bisexual novelist Catherine Tramell, she says, 'is not a happy trip . . . it burns a place in you'.See the full content of this document
