Summary
MY MP, Paul Farrelly, claimed over Pounds 167,000 in expenses alone last year -- an amount which was more than ten times my annual take-home pay. How can MPs restrict senior public sector officials to a 1.5 per cent pay increase while giving themselves 2.33 per cent? Do they need it, considering their pay, obscene expense accounts and bulletproof pensions? Do our MPs represent value for money, or are there just too many of them 'doing nothing against the rules' while leeching off the system? I recall our MPs once voting for a 60 per cent pay rise for themselves when everyone else in the country was restricted to very much less. What hypocrites! Then we learn that the taxpayer is to foot the bill to protect MPs' gold- plated pensions -- just unbelievable when so many ordinary people who need their pensions are losing them.
Considering the levels of expense claims and the numerous scandals over misuse of public funds, I don't believe the country can afford so many MPs.See the full content of this document
