Summary
THE FAI have confirmed that they will work alongside Bray Wanderers to investigate the circumstances that led to part of the pitch wall at the Carlisle Grounds collapsing during last Friday's league match with Shamrock Rovers. One person was taken to hospital and two more children treated for minor injuries after Gary Twigg ran to celebrate the winning goal with away fans but a section of the perimeter wall surrounding the pitch collapsed onto the field. It later emerged that the injured man had not broken his leg as initially feared but had suffered severe bruising. The match was delayed by half an hour as medics and the Fire Brigade dealt with the situation. The debris was removed and metal fencing put in place before the game continued.
'As a matter of course, we will investigate the circumstances of what happened,' confirmed an FAI spokesperson. 'We will work along with Bray to collect details and ascertain the facts. We will do our best to help the club resolve the matter.' Remedial work on the wall began on Saturday as the Wicklow club assessed the damage. Part of the ground may now be closed off ahead of Charlton Athletic's visit for Wednesday's friendly.See the full content of this document
