A SHAKE-UP intended to iron out injustices in NHS funding for care home residents will leave more than 60,000 desperately ill and injured people still facing huge bills, charities warned last night.

The new national test for 'continuing care' unveiled yesterday was supposed to end more than a decade of controversy over unfairness in judging who qualifies for state help for nursing and care costs that typically run to more than 600 a week.
