A few weeks ago, that timeless image received its first jolt when a leading plastic surgeon, Laurence Kirwan, reportedly blurted out to an interviewer that Miss Kendal had been a one of his clients.

When asked about a signed picture of the actress on his office wall, he apparently announced, virtuously, that he never discussed his celebrity patients 'apart from her'.

Though he added that he could 'never say what she had', this was enough to fuel speculation that Felicity indeed appeared, rather miraculously, to have shed her wrinkles. No doubt her less well- preserved critics felt entitled to roll up their yoga mats and gloat. So that is how she did it. Ha!
