THREE City workers whose yacht was hit by a ferry drowned because a watch officer 'crossed his fingers and hoped they would be OK', a court heard yesterday.

Rupert Saunders, James Meaby and Jason Downer were left floundering in the Channel for up to 12 hours because the ferry's second mate 'turned a blind eye' to their plight, it was claimed.
