BRITISH Airways' powerful pilots union, Balpa, warned its members could still ballot for strike action if talks with the airline don't yield a 'significant breakthrough' later this week.

The flag-carrier wants to tackle its yawning Pounds 2.1bn pension deficit by raising the retirement age for pilots by five years, to 60, instead of the initial ten-year proposal and lower it to 60 for other staff in return for higher pension contributions.
