THE London Stock Exchange has appointed a Frenchman who used to head up the French arm of collapsed investment bank Lehman Brothers as its next chief executive.

Xavier Rolet becomes the new boss on May 20, taking over from Dame Clara Furse, who has spent eight years in the job and was the first woman to lead the exchange.
