Summary

AT LAST! Someone else in the country dislikes hot summers (Letters). I'm not the only person who felt a rush of fear when I heard the words 'barbecue summer'. I had thought I was completely alone, hardly daring to say the words 'it's too hot', for fear of being shouted down by a veritable army of sun worshippers. The worst offenders are weather forecasters who seem to take a delight in telling us that we are in for another hot spell, that blistering temperatures are on the way and how much we should all enjoy the heatwave while it lasts.

As we stagger through a sizzling summer, spare a thought for those of us who intensely dislike the heat and can't do anything about it. If you're cold, you can turn the heating up or put on a cardigan. If you're too hot? Try grinning and bearing it. Oh, and a special mention for hot flush sufferers -- think about it.
