Summary
FAR from being one of Scotland's smallest councils, Fife is in fact the third largest. It has 78 councillors, not 81. These councillors are responsible for an annual budget of almost three quarters of a billion and are on call 24/7. For all this, most receive a gross allowance of just over Pounds 15,000 a year, somewhat less than the minimum wage.
As to the suggestion that they have 'liberal expenses', Fife is probably the most frugal council anywhere when it comes to reimbursing expenses -- I myself have never received a penny.See the full content of this document
