THE People's Princess will be given a 'unique funeral for a unique person', Buckingham Palace said yesterday. In recognition of the millions touched by Diana's death, room will be found for members of the public at Saturday's 11am service in Westminster Abbey.

Most of the nation will come to a standstill as a mark of respect, with the public urged to observe a two-minute silence. Shops and banks will shut, sport will be cancelled, the National Lottery postponed and radio stations fall silent. Mohamed Al Fayed has ordered that Harrods be closed on the day.
