WHILE even Harry Redknapp will be hard pressed to eclipse the Pounds 113million Chelsea spent on 10 new players in the summer of 2003, he will be licking his lips at the prospect of Alexandre Gaydamak's arrival at Portsmouth.

When Redknapp returned to Fratton Park in December, chairman Milan Mandaric pledged to swell the fighting fund by providing around Pounds 5m for five new players. Well, that kind of cash is chicken feed to the club's new co-owner.
