ARE women really getting more beautiful? That was the theory advanced this week by researchers. Yet psychologists put it down to younger women simply making a greater effort with their looks because of modern social pressures. So what's the truth? We asked three generations of one family for their views. JEANETTE MATTHEWS, 73, is a retired office manager. Daughter Debra, 50, is a reflexologist. WHEN I was 26, as my granddaughter Natasha is now, the pressure on women was not about their appearance so much as keeping a lovely clean home and bringing up well-behaved children.

I always did take an interest in fashion, though, as both my father and husband were tailors. I've had the same beauty routine since my late teens -- wearing minimal make-up because too much looks tarty, removing it with cleanser and moisturising every night.
