TO MANY people, Yasmin Bevan would surely be the living embodiment of 'multicultural Britain'. The Muslim head of Denbigh High School in Luton was born into a Bengali family and grew up in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh before coming to Britain.

When she took over at the helm of the ailing comprehensive, she had a clear vision wanting to instil in her pupils the wish to live harmoniously with people of other colours and creeds.
