The latest arrival in the BBC commentary box was as cheery as the mutant lovechild of Eeyore the donkey and Neil from The Young Ones. 'I don't think we're desperately bad,' he moaned at one point. 'I just don't think we're desperately good. And we haven't been so far this tournament.' As the goals kept going in, Big Joe summoned the enthusiasm to admit that: 'The performance hasn't been convincing, but the result is grand.' Talk about depressing. I know Bobby Robson frets about England, but at least he suggests how we could play better. Royle just gripes. Get that man some Prozac - fast!
