YOU can play with words all you like, but the document on grants ratified by the GAAs Central Council amounts to pay for play. The bottom line is that a third party is going to provide players with extra cash for playing in the championships this summer.

By paying this money as vouched expenses, the GAA may have dug themselves out of a legal bind but, I would argue, not a moral one. We are talking about the countrys richest sporting organisation taking money off a cash-strapped government to pay cash to GAA players, who they should look after in the first place.
